India Modern Aesthetic for a Beverage Joint

Chai Point, a leading beverage franchise, has discovered a growing contrast between old and new India.

In keeping with this, they have re-invented their brand identity and specified that their latest outlet be focussed on an ‘India Modern’ sentiment – an intrinsically Indian chai service catering to clientele that are aware of international trends in food and design.

Since the floor plan is small and linear, a large area at the front of the store is reserved for seating, with the main counter and kitchen towards the rear. A tall shelving unit stacked up against the glazing displays merchandise and food products. Balconies in the right and front of the layout provide space for a few outdoor seats, to enjoy the great Bangalore weather.

Indian elements are carefully dispersed throughout the store and bring freshness to an otherwise clean contemporary look. Wicker, a local material, has been used for the chairs in the main seating and balcony area. It has also been made into panels that provide a layer of texture and privacy in the interior. An inlay of patterned tile in the granite floor adds more local flavour.
Overall, the design of the store is easy-going, a neat balance between formal and casual that brings different people together.
