Abode of an Art Collector
An interior renovation project of a 4-bedroom apartment in the heart of Bangalore, this was home to an avid art collector and socialite looking forward to refreshing her current space to better reflect her personality.
The re-design was meant to allow the space to showcase her art collection and to create a singular cohesive entertaining space that would be able to host small and large groups of people.
The vision of the project was to create a layered experience, using textures and colors that were rich and vibrant, to create an ambience that was sophisticated while still being comfortable. A suitable canvas for eclectic pieces of furniture, sculpture and art to be displayed throughout the home was required.
With the new spatial layout, the apartment now opens into a free-flowing gallery space. The former media room was turned into the living room. Large sliding folding doors were added for seamless access to the balcony, providing greater flexibility for entertaining.
In the private areas, the existing guest bedroom was partially converted into a study area. The remaining space was used as an extended wardrobe. Existing bathrooms were demolished and combined to create a large walk-in-wardrobe and en-suite bathroom which became the interface between the master bedroom and study area.
