Polar Bear’s Flagship Store in Nungambakkam, Chennai
Designed as Polar bear’s first flagship store in Chennai. This store had a unique character, metal rafters across the ceiling, crowned columns along with a series of windows along the longer axis. Our brief was to design a space that was reminiscent of the outlets in Bangalore as well as to reimagine the design of the store to create an ambience that is inviting and memorable.
The façade was broken into three segments. The trademark colour of the brand ‘Sunflower Yellow’ was expressed on the yellow French door located centrally on the façade. Panelled glass interfaces were added on either side of the door to allow a sneak-peak of the experience the outlet has to offer.
Owing to the site conditions, multiple pockets of seating were created. A high ledge table seating nook with a curved planter, 4 seater tables along the central aisle of the outlet and a large island table just as you approached the iconic sundae counter. Along the windows, bench seating with a fluted backrest was created to allow users flexibility.
The colour palette for the store were derivatives from their branding docket alongside some accents of vintage insignia. Materials in the outlet were carefully curated to express a combination of modern elements with classical shell.
