India Modern Aesthetics for an Airport Kiosk
Chai Point brings its consumers a service experience that revolves around ‘chai’. Their latest venture at the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru was to open a kiosk adjacent to the Arrivals Gate. Its prime location contributed to the main factor in the creation of its ambience – a warm and inviting atmosphere. The kiosk had to be visually appealing with an increased sense of visibility. It was to stand out amongst other vendors in the area and at the same time follow the restrictions placed by the airport authorities.
An LED ‘tree’ with wooden ribs that dispersed light created a strong backdrop and starting point for the whole space. The strips also stretched out vertically above eye level and fanned out, like a leaf. This increased height gave the store an illusion of space as well as created a wider angle of vision for increased display area. A large sign was mounted on the lighting strips to provide focus and attention to the brand. Even more significant was the acrylic LED signage with the brand name that was dispensed form the ceiling, ensuring that customers could identify the store even from a distance.
The use of bold materials like brass and copper sheet for the ceiling lit up the space instantly and provided ample contrast to the varying shades of the brand colour - green. The queue manager outside the store also had a glass unit with tea leaves on display, that tied into the whole theme.
